Good weather, beautiful grounds, great fun, food and fellowship, coupled with serious learning and sharing, packed into 4 remarkable days. What more could one ask for? Traditionally held every summer, FGT London’s recent 7th annual camp themed ‘Living for God’, was held with the intention of spurring the campers on to ‘live honestly, courageously, truthfully, faithfully and consistently’. It was held at the Hebron Hall Christian Centre in a small village called Dinas Powys in scenic Wales.

The focus was on the book of Judges this year. A book recording the faithfulness and the grace of God towards His people, even when they fail Him miserably, resonated with the campers and much was gleaned from it. The topic and the teachings on being faithful, living holy lives, anointing and leadership have led many into evaluating their current relationship with God, and prompted them into wanting something more. To quote Hanan Del Rosario, one of the Sunday School teachers, “I’ve learned that as a human just like in the book of Judges, we often go through the cycle of sin. But since we’ve been saved through what Christ has done for us, the chain has been broken and all I need to do now is to turn away from my old ways, start living by faith and make sure to finish well. I’m just so encouraged.”

The camp not only provided every individual with the opportunity to do some inward searching, but also to focus outwards by serving and caring for one another. It was the norm for the entire duration of the camp to see everyone rolling up their sleeves and pitching in on whatever it was that needed to be done. The kitchen was never short of volunteer commis chefs and dish-washers, the dining hall was never left without everyone clearing up after each other, the first-timers and shy(er) ones were made to feel at home and those that needed prayers and encouragement were ministered to. So very much like a family in itself.

One of the main highlights of the camp was the water baptism. This year, 6 people made the decision to be baptised! Karl Nanan said, “When I got baptised, at that very moment, when I came back out of the water, something in my heart fluttered… a feeling of love and happiness. I felt like a new person. My heart wanted to burst into tears. It’s an experience I would never forget”. Support and unity amongst the campers really shone through then, as enthusiastic applause broke out after each candidate was baptised, and all stayed after the ceremony and stretched forward their hands to pray for them.

Even with a packed schedule of morning devotions, just 9 sessions to cover all 21 chapters of Judges, 2 to 3 praise and worship sessions per day, a day trip to Cardiff, the capital city of Wales, meal times and break times, FGT London still managed to dedicate a whole afternoon of fun and games and hosted the ever famous and long awaited Summer Camp Barbeque. Whatever barriers or shyness that still remained between the campers had no hope of survival. By the end of the day, new friendships have been forged and the older ones have only been made stronger.

So, in retrospect, was the camp successful? Did it meet its objective of beckoning people into ‘Living for God’? The answer is a resounding ‘Yes!’.

“FGT summer camp was a great success. I learned so much about myself. I had absolutely no idea what I wanted in my life. But the camp inspired me a lot and helped me to realise that everything will fall into place if we commit everything to the Lord. The whole experience definitely lived up to my expectations. It was my first summer camp but I have met a lot of people who will be my friends for life.” – Kasey, newly baptised.

“Summer camp was a memorable experience. Worship was awesome, with great anointing and the presence of the Lord filling my heart. Fellowship was really good. I learned so much about my brothers and sisters, sharing the word of God. The atmosphere in the camp was full of love and laughter… like an extended family. I would encourage people to come to the next summer camp and experience what I have experienced with our precious, loving, dearest sweet Jesus.” – Karl, serial attendee.

The people were fed and catered for in all aspects – physically, mentally, emotionally and most importantly, spiritually. Some discovered talents and abilities they never knew they had, others were determined to step up a notch in their walk with God, and yet some made the decision to serve Him even more within the church and also in their communities. They headed back to London feeling challenged, recharged and refreshed, ready to face the coming days.

In light of all this, what does the pastor of FGT London, Pastor Rafael Casela think the camp has birthed within the participants? “This camp is a ‘wake up call’ for all of us here in FGT London, from our God who is always waiting for someone to partner with Him to do ‘the work’.

It was just not simply a reminder, but a call with urgency to deal mainly with two important things:

1. He’s calling us to live for Him a life that is honourable, set apart and with significance; and

2. He’s calling also to take up leadership with seriousness and some degree of courage because if we don’t, it will be taken from us by people who are not meant to be there, which will result chaos in His church.

Let’s heed the call. Yes, let’s heed the call, indeed!

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old,, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

The Children’s Church of FGT is known as Kids Alive. Our vision is to see our children
• Alive in the Lord!
• Alive in His Word!
• Alive in His love!

Kids Alive meets on Sundays from 9am till 9.50am together with our Super Zone class (which caters for individuals with learning disabilities). These meetings take place before our Worship Service because we encourage children to be a part of the main service so that families can worship together in the church they call ‘home’.

During our meetings, the children come together for a time of worship; which is led by teachers and children themselves. Thereafter, they will be separated according to their age group for their own special activities.

Super Zone Kids will meet in their own class. In this smaller group, they will have games, craft activities and Bible Study. Currently, our children are learning about the book of Genesis.

Children, age 2 to 4 years old, will have their own fun Bible study time during the Worship Service’s message.

We welcome you to come and join us for this fun and exciting time every Sunday!

Should you need any further information, please contact our Children’s Church pastor, Pastor Jenny Liew at (03) 8024 2270.

365 Student Ministries meets every Saturday afternoon from 4-6pm at Level 3 of WISMA EAGLES. Ministering to students aged between 12 and 25, this lively weekly worship event is organized and led by the FGT youth together with their Cell Leaders and the Youth Pastor, Richard Evans. The meetings start with a time of contemporary worship, followed by Biblical teaching on a variety of topics relevant to young people. Once a month, we meet for discussion in the “friendship building” context of Care-Cells. We usually end with a time of fellowship over food, football or basketball on-site!

365 University & College Ministries

365 University & College Ministries seeks to reach out to students in higher learning institutions by providing Care-Cells either on-site at the university or college campus or in nearby student accommodations. Here we meet for fellowship, friendship and the sharing of Biblical “life-skills”. If you would like to connect with others from your campus and be a part of a family away from home, please come and join us!

Why “365”?

We have called ourselves “365” because as leaders we want to be available to young people 365 days a year. Our heart is to raise a generation of young people who would make themselves available to God 365 days a year.

So, whether you are a student in school, college or university, are local, from outstation or from abroad, we would love the opportunity to meet with you!

Getting There

If you do not have transport of your own, no problem! Please let us know and we will seek to arrange for you.

Making Contact

We would love to meet with you! Please feel free to call us in the office from Monday to Friday, 8.30am-5.00pm on 03-8024-2270 or contact us directly on:

Ps. Richard Evans: 012-355-8152 or email richardevans.fgt@gmail.com
