God Takes Care of Us

IMGP5058

I was telling God how nice it would be to have 2 cars. Thit Meng & I were car pooling to work and I often had to wait for him when he worked late, which was quite often. We have 2 young kids and it wasn’t very good that we frequently arrived home late and have little time to spend with them. So when a relative of mine wanted to sell his car, I jumped at the opportunity. To our surprise, he decided to bless us and said “Just take it and use it”! God indeed gives us exceedingly more than we can ask Him.

On another occasion, around the end of 2008, my husband, Thit Meng and I felt challenged to contribute to the Hebron Fund. We had a certain sum in mind. Then we found out that Thit Meng’s father has cancer. He has no medical insurance and we were wondering how we can take care of his medical costs and still give to Hebron. We decided to stretch our trust in God & proceeded to contribute to Hebron. Then came the wonderful news!

Without even asking, a relative of ours offered to pay for the entire medical costs, from the diagnostic tests, surgery up to the after care. The total cost covered was more than $100K! This blessing is beyond what we can ever imagine and until today I continue to marvel at how God takes care of us. I also thank God for my relative’s extravagant generosity.

There are many more testimonies about how God has blessed us but I just want to share another one where God protected us from a fraudulent deal. This would have cost us a big loss.

As a family, we always prayed for God’s protection for our finance, our jobs, health as well as possessions. Just this year, my father had a property to sell. After putting up the advertisement, a real estate agent called to say he has found a buyer for us. He said the buyer needed the place quickly and we should finalize the deal as soon as possible.

We were very happy. I shared this with a few church friends and they asked me a few questions. I sensed some warning bells… yes, a few things just didn’t seem right. But my father was still keen to proceed. Fortunately, an aunty whose opinion my father looks up to came back from overseas; she also sensed something was amiss. So, when the purchase agreement was drawn up, I read it very, very carefully and indeed, he tried to cheat us!

Many people are anxious about their finance and their future, whether they have enough for their house, whether they are adequately covered by insurance, whether they will have enough savings for their children’s education.

I have learnt one thing – that as we trust and obey God, He takes care of our family and our needs. He protects us and our possessions. We can try to work everything out for ourselves or we can choose to trust in Him, who created heaven and earth and owns everything!
