The Church You Can Call ‘Home’

Accident on the LRT Track

2009_06_28_016a_

We were having dinner at my in-laws’ house in Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya on a Sunday night.  It was about 8.30pm.  Suddenly we realised that Justin, who was about 8 years old then, was missing. Justin is autistic and has a tendency to run away from home.

The family went out in a few cars to search for him.  As Justin had run away before, we had tagged him with my hand phone number. The last few times when we lost him, we had strangers who found him calling us to pick him up.

That night, I was impatiently waiting for someone who had found him to call me.  I could only pray for Justin’s safety while waiting for the call to come through.  The phone finally rang about 9 something.

Someone had found him at the Taman Bahagia LRT station.  My in-laws live very close to the Kelana Jaya LRT station. To get from Kelana Jaya LRT station to the Taman Bahagia LRT station by foot, it would take at least 20 minutes and one would have to cross some major roads.  We had no idea how he managed to run that far in the dark.

When we got to the Taman Bahagia LRT station, the staff on duty were more shocked than us.  They told us how all of a sudden, they had a system failure.  The whole LRT system had come to a halt.  Looking at their CCTV, they realised that someone had jumped onto the tracks.  The tracks had sensors on them and when someone or something hit it, it would automatically cause the system to come to a halt.  They then had to carefully go down to the tracks to rescue Justin because on both sides of the tracks, there are high tension cables.

God has indeed preserved Justin that night.  He was not hurt at all. He had no idea how dangerous his act was even to this day.  As far as he was concerned, it was a great adventure! I praise God for his mercy.
