Highway Horror

Low family

It was about 8.30am on a Monday morning and we were running late. Justin was still having his breakfast. My son, Justin, is autistic and was having a session with his therapist at 9am that morning in Petaling Jaya.

I told him we had to go or we will be late for his therapy session.  We live in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam and it takes more than 30minutes to get to PJ during peak morning traffic.  So I put his breakfast aside and told him he can have it when we get back.  I pretty much pushed him into the car as he did not want to leave the house.  Justin was not happy and threw a tantrum in the car as I was driving down the Kesas Highway.

Just after we passed the petrol stations along the Kesas Highway, Justin, being very upset by then, pulled up my hand brake without any warning.  I screamed and push it back down.  He immediately did it again a second time. This time as I tried to grab the hand brake from him, I was driving with one hand, and being very panicky, I slammed on the brakes at the same time.  By then, I have totally lost control of the car and it just spun around.  I basically did a U- turn and almost hit the barrier in the middle of the highway.

When I came to a halt, I was facing the opposite direction, and watched in horror as the other cars were coming towards me.

I thank God that the other cars managed to stop in time and none of them hit me or each other.  I quickly drove to the emergency lane and just sat there in the car for more than 5 minutes and cried.

I almost had a very major accident.  The car was so close to hitting the divider when I spun out of control and the other cars could so easily have slammed into mine.  I was also 4 months pregnant at that time.  It was really the hand of God that protected us.  The traffic on the highway on a Monday morning around 8 to 9 am is normally quite heavy and yet all the other cars behind me managed to stop in time.

Truly, God has been merciful and had preserved our lives. I give him all the glory.
