The Church You Can Call ‘Home’

Lord, how do I find people?

MinSer

I arrived in JB on 3rd August and began settling in to work at Pasir Gudang, as well as prepare for the first English service on the 7th September.

The biggest question was, ‘Lord, how do I find people?’ Being a bit weak in my Mandarin, I was naturally concerned. But praise God, I somehow managed to communicate that we are a church in JB, and we’re starting our English service on 7th September.

Tracting in the housing areas and distributing church brochures at Sunway college and Jaya Jusco occupied the next 3 weeks. There wasn’t much fruit immediately, but by His grace, He has brought along several people to join the church - a student whom I met at Sunway College; an elderly couple who received a brochure in their post box; a young adult who just shifted to JB for work; and a former cell member of Pastor Louisa.

The big day came. We started off with 4 FGT JB attendees and 15 supporters from FGT Subang & FGT JB (BM).

Ps Hong Seng shared on the purpose of a local church: (1) saving souls (2) building character and (3) experiencing ‘unexpected miracles’. Ps Richard shared on principles on building a church. We ended the night with a time of makan and fellowship after the service.

If there’s one lesson I’ve learnt over the past month, it has been about trusting Him.

That when we are obedient to do the things we can do, He will be there to take care of things we can’t do. He will bring the increase as we labour in the harvest field He has placed us in.

I thank God for Him and the many people in the FGT family whom He has placed in my life to encourage, lead and be pattern and a friend to me; not forgetting my bride-to-be, Jen Ling!
